M&S EMDC

This 2.5M sq/ft warehouse in the Midlands was the first of a new generation of automated storage facilities for this retail giant.

The client, M&S, employed Etec Associates to review the electrical services infrastructure at their Castle Donington Distribution centre and provide colour coded demarcation drawings for operational use.  The warehouse, measuring 250,000 m2, is fed by seven HV/LV sub-stations which circle the building via an 11kV ring circuit.  A HV generator system also provides stand-by back up power to the ring circuit.

  • Etec were employed by M&S to review the electrical distribution of the building, upon completion of the main works, which was constructed as part of a D&B package.
  • Etec reviewed the design and installation and advised on H&S issues, together with demarcation advice between M&S operational teams.
  • Drawings were produced, colour coded to differentiate between main LV distribution and process distribution with exact boundaries of responsibility defined for the individual M&S maintenance and operation teams.
