M&S EMDC

This 2.5M sq/ft warehouse in the Midlands was the first of a new generation of automated storage facilities for this retail giant.

The client, M&S, employed Etec Associates to review the electrical services infrastructure at their Castle Donington Distribution centre and provide colour coded demarcation drawings for operational use.  The warehouse, measuring 250,000 m², is fed by seven HV/LV sub-stations which circle the building via an 11kV ring circuit.  A HV generator system also provides stand-by back up power to the ring circuit.

• Etec were employed by M&S to review the electrical distribution of the building, upon completion of the main works, which was constructed as part of a D&B package.
• Etec reviewed the design and installation and advised on H&S issues, together with demarcation advice between M&S operational teams.
• Drawings were produced, colour coded to differentiate between main LV distribution and process distribution with exact boundaries of responsibility defined for the individual M&S maintenance and operation teams.
